Privacy & anonymity

Is it really anonymous?

Yes. We never sign in to Snapchat, so no view is ever recorded on the story owner's account. Your username, email and IP are never shared with the poster. There is no viewer row to hide because no viewer was ever created.
No. Snapchat only fires viewer notifications for accounts that authenticated and tapped the story inside the app. SnapStoryView never authenticates, so the owner gets nothing.
No persistent log. The server caches public profile metadata for 45 minutes (shared across all visitors) so we don't hit Snapchat for the same name 10,000 times an hour. Close the tab and your session is gone.
No. No fingerprinting, no analytics resold to third parties, no persistent search history tied to you. Standard server access logs exist for ops/abuse only and roll over.
Account & access

Do I need an account?

No. You never sign in. No email, password, phone number or SMS code. Type a Snapchat username and watch immediately.
No. There is no signup form on the entire site. Type a username, watch.
No daily cap on profiles you can view or stories you can watch. We rate-limit only enough to stop one bad actor from hammering the server.
No. SnapStoryView only shows content the user has set to public. Private accounts will not appear here, and no tool can change that without breaking Snapchat's terms.
Downloads & quality

What about downloading?

Yes. Every story card has a download button. For bulk saves switch to download mode on the Snapchat story downloader.
Photos save as .jpg and videos as .mp4, in the original resolution Snapchat encoded - typically 720p or 1080p, vertical 9:16, H.264 + AAC.
No. The Snap is saved exactly as Snapchat served it - original resolution, original quality, no watermark added.
Use the Spotlight downloader page. Paste any snapchat.com/spotlight/... link, click Get video, then Download MP4 in the new tab.
If you used the page's download button, files are named username-1.mp4 etc. If you right-clicked the player and saved manually, you may get the opaque CDN hash - use the page button for clean names.

Will this work on my device?

Yes. Built mobile-first. Runs in Safari on iOS, downloads save to Files or Photos, the player goes full-screen on tap.
Yes. Chrome, Samsung Internet, Edge, Opera all work. Files save to your normal Downloads folder.
No. SnapStoryView is a website, not an app. Open snapstoryview.com in any browser and use it instantly.
Yes. Any modern desktop browser - Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge.
Cost & affiliation

Is there a catch?

No catch. Lightweight, privacy-respecting display ads cover hosting. We don't run pop-ups, push notifications, or fake "download" buttons.
Yes. No paywall, no premium tier, no "watch an ad first" wall.
No. SnapStoryView is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Snap Inc. Snapchat is a trademark of Snap Inc.
Saving public content for personal use is generally fine, similar to right-clicking a public photo. Re-publishing someone else's content as your own is a copyright issue regardless - don't do that.
