Privacy & Terms

We don't track you, store your searches, or sell your data.

Privacy policy

What we do and don't collect.

SnapStoryView does not require an account. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any identifying personal information. The usernames you search are not persisted to a per-user log - the server caches public profile metadata for 45 minutes shared across all visitors so we don't hit Snapchat for the same name 10,000 times an hour, but that cache is keyed on the username, not on you. We do not fingerprint your browser. We do not run third-party analytics that resell your behaviour. Standard web server access logs (IP, request line, user agent) are retained briefly for abuse prevention and security incident response, then rotated. We do not sell, rent, or share these logs.

How extraction works

No login on either side.

SnapStoryView reads Snapchat's own public story endpoint at story.snapchat.com/@username - the same page anyone with a browser can already open. We never authenticate to Snapchat, never create or share a Snapchat account, and never log in under any identity. Because no Snapchat session is ever created in your name, no viewer row is registered on the story owner's account. Your visit is invisible to them not because we hide it but because there is nothing to hide.

Cookies & storage

A short, honest list.

Theme preference

A small localStorage entry (snap_theme) remembers your dark/light choice. Stays on your device. Never sent anywhere.

Language preference

Driven by the URL prefix (/es/, /ja/ etc). No cookie, no fingerprint - the URL is the only state.

Ad partners

If we display ads, the ad network may set its own cookies. These follow the ad network's privacy policy, not ours. We do not have access to that data.

Server logs

Standard nginx/Express access logs (IP, request, user-agent). Retained for short-term abuse prevention only, rotated regularly.

Public-feed cache

Cached Snapchat profile metadata, keyed on the username, not on visitors. Expires after 45 minutes.

What we don't keep

No per-user search history. No cross-session tracking. No fingerprint. No "data harvesting" sold to anyone.

Your rights

GDPR, CCPA, etc.

Because we don't collect personal data tied to identity, there's typically no per-user data to export or delete. If you want us to delete server logs containing your IP from a specific time window, email [email protected] with the date range. We'll process the request within 30 days. EU/UK users have full GDPR rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, and objection. California users have full CCPA rights. We do not sell personal data, full stop.

Terms of service

Use SnapStoryView responsibly.

SnapStoryView is provided as-is, free to use, for viewing and saving public Snapchat stories for personal use. Do not use the service to harass, stalk, defame, or otherwise harm any person or entity. Do not redistribute someone else's content as if it were your own - that's a copyright issue regardless of how you obtained the file. Do not attempt to scrape, automate, or DDoS the service. We reserve the right to block abusive usage at the IP, network, or hostname level. SnapStoryView is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Snap Inc. Snapchat is a trademark of Snap Inc.

Liability

The legal fine print.

SnapStoryView is provided "as-is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the service. We do not guarantee continuous availability, accuracy of fetched content, or the longevity of any specific feature. We may modify these terms at any time; significant changes will be reflected in the "last updated" timestamp at the top of this page (or future revisions). Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
